Meet Katie Davidson, M.A.

I moved to NYC to be a writer.
Then came the plot twist.

While I landed a glamorous dream job doing exactly what I thought I wanted (writing and editing for a digital fashion and beauty outlet), I felt lost and out of alignment; happier and more alive after a yoga class, walking around the city in my sweaty workout clothes, than playing dress-up a la Carrie Bradshaw.

One yoga event in Montauk changed everything—not in a clichĆ©d ā€œhappy-endingā€ sort of way but in a confronting way that brought me to my knees, forcing me to face my past trauma and the messy parts of true transformation.

Coming to terms with a lot of grief, I moved home and found I no longer fit into the world I had left behind. With no real aspirations of becoming a yoga teacher, I began studying yoga, which brought me around the world, and received numerous certifications along the way.

Each step was a leap of faith guiding me toward something greater. Eventually, this path led me to Loyola Marymount University’s Graduate Yoga Studies program (the first M.A. degree in yoga in the country), which I graduated from in 2022.

Now, a yoga teacher and scholar, a lifelong student, and a writer, I am devoted to sharing what I’ve learned with others. I see now how important teaching, education, and svādhyāya (the Sanskrit term for self-study) are to my story and purpose. And I continue trusting the path unfolding—the blank page—before me.
